The First Step Wasn’t Big. It Was Honest.
Part 2
After I realized the path I was on wasn’t mine, I didn’t overhaul my life overnight.
I didn’t quit everything.
I didn’t have a perfect plan.
I didn’t even feel clear right away.
But I did something more powerful:
I got honest.
Honest about what felt forced.
Honest about the moments that drained me.
Honest about the parts of me I had quieted for the sake of fitting in.
And from that place, I took one small step.
Not toward a career goal.
Not toward someone else’s version of success.
But toward myself.
That step looked like:
Saying no to things I used to say yes to out of habit
Sitting in silence without rushing to fill it
Writing things I hadn’t said out loud
Admitting I wanted more, not in volume but in meaning
It was uncomfortable.
It was quiet.
But it was mine.
And that made all the difference.
We think transformation needs to be dramatic.
But often, it starts with a whispered truth and the courage to follow it.
You don’t need to burn your life down.
You just need to begin walking in the direction of what feels like home.
That’s where I started.
I didn’t worry about sounding professional. My goal was to do what feel right for right now. I know things will take care of itself. It always does.
